somebody just needs to step up and own up to what they did ames police feel the same way... person to step up... to admit that they killed emmalee jacobs. good evening. thank you for being with us. i'm dan winters. and i'm sonya heitshusen. the 18-year old was hit and killed crossing lincoln way in ames early monday morning. the make-shift memorial is growing... but the tips to police are starting to dwindle. ames investigators tell us they are still coming in... but they have nothing significant to go on. it was raining at the time of the crash... preventing nearby security cameras from clearly showing the car involved. the heartache will only get more difficult tomorrow. that's when a visitation will take place at the united methodist church in center point. funeral services will follow the next morning at center-point-urbana high school. the investigation is about to get much harder for police... potential witnesses... and possibly even the suspect are about to leave town... channel 13's justin surrency has the

five days of searching revealed what a heartbreaking tragedy today. divers found the body of 17-year old sam kemp junior in this pond near granger. police started searching for him on sunday.... the same day his mother reported him missing... kemp was last seen at a large house party here saturday night. police say the crowd scattered when officers arrived. it took three attempts at searching the pond, but today police recovered kemp's body. 181312 - no mother should have to bury their child. no mother should have to see their son being drug from a pond 184614 - thats what the family wants to know, like how did he get there and why? did he fall or did someone place him there so hopefully they get some answers now police say its too early to tell if foul play was involved. they are waiting on an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
body found near oskaloosa. a deer hunter found the remains in a wooded area north of town yesterday. the person hasn't been identified. des moines police surrounded a home on southeast 6th street tonight. authorities say a man broke into the home... in violation of a no-contact order. he refused to come out for about an hour. eventually the man came up to a living room window where officers were able to grab him... they dragged him out the window and took him into custody. officer's are yet to release the man's name or the charges he might face. today cedar rapids police released video of an officer armed shooting... it took place in march following a high speed chase... you can see the suspect... 27-year old kyle orth trying to flee officers in reverse. he slammed into a pole... and officers opened fire when orth then drove towards them. he was hit multiple times... but survived his injuries. orth was sentenced to 180-days in jail. des moines county sheriff mike johnstone is recovering from a gunshot... one he's responsible
johnstone was cleaning a gun at his home when it accidentally went off. he was hit in the hand and treated for non life-threatening injuries. iowa's planned shift to a privately- run medicaid system is starting out a little rough... governor branstad hoped to make the transition on january first... the centers for medicare and medicaid services closed the door on that timeline today... in a letter to the state medical director the center writes, "cms previously outlined the requirements to provide high quality, accessible care to medicaid beneficiaries, and iowa has not yet met those requirements, meaning that a transition on january first would risk serious disruptions in care." c-m-s delayed the transition until march first. 54:11-54:33 clearly the governor's plan was too fast, too quikc, and thoughtless in its approach and as a result cms took an unpreciednted step by stepping in and saying to the

get out of bed, said lauren hammersley, hazel's mother. today, hazel, her mom and her grandma took handmade christmas ornaments to cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and spending the holidays in the hospital just as hazel had two years ago. just a beautiful dress. oh, my gosh, and her cute little heels. and how she has the color back,? said ilse blanda, who has a 4-year-old daughter named lucy who is fighting the same type of cancer hazel beat. hazel's presence brought tears of happiness to blanda. it gives me hope. it makes me so happy. it makes me stronger and it helps me not to give up, she said. hazel's mom not only wanted to give the family hope, she wanted to offer support if they needed it. like the family i talked to doesn?t even really know anybody else whose been through what they're going through and we found out that we live in the same town,she said. attached to the ornament is a photograph of hazel when she had lost her curly hair in treatment and a typed message of what she endured. she completed 15 months of grueling treatment, which included six courses of chemotherapy, a nine-utor section surgery, a stem-ceansplant, 20 doses of dtion, her mother said. cse it's flu season, ildren aren't allowed on the cology floor, so hazel wasn't able to hand deliv all of her naments, but the hospital will make sure that every cancer
